Scrymgeour was born to a respected family in a tribe in the highlands of Northern Pictland. His father, Drest had fought countless times against his neighbouring kin for more reasons that he can remember,and had therefore earned himself a high position within the tribe. This made Scrymgeour's start in life easier than most, since him, his mother Brietta, and his father rarely went Hungry. Unlike most Scymgeour was never forced to work the fields, or herd the cattle, since his father owned captured slaves to do the boring work instead. Along with his younger brother, Scymgeour was taught the ways of battle, from the moment they could hold an axe, so they might one day protect their tribe like their father once did.
